Do you have to use the special connectors? If not, what's the proper hole size? 35mm?

Mutt, thanks for the comment. Deckorators has two baluster connectors – a standard connector and a designer connector.

Deckorators also offers a durable nylon railing adaptor for 2x4 deck rails. Click on the "Connectors" tab using this link: http://www.ufpi.com/product/deckorators/railing/aluminum-railing.htm

Solar post caps. Just wood glue hold these lights on the post? or do I need a screw in the wood?
Monday, September 19, 2011 by Chris Fox:
Sue, to install your post caps, we recommend using an exterior-grade construction adhesive / wood glue to adhere the cap to the post (no fasteners needed). Apply the adhesive liberally to the inside of the cap, and then place the cap firmly over the top of the post. Be sure to wipe away any extra glue.
